Evonne Vey was born in Melbourne, Australia and originally studied commercial art there at the CauIfield School of Art. Although her career led her into the field of computers she designed posters wherever she was employed advertising their social events. Evonne was working at the NASA Tracking Station at Honeysuckle Creek, near Canberra as a computer specialist when she met and married an American Engineer from the Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland. Upon her arrival in America she and her husband moved to rural Calvert County, MD., where later she studied with numerous artists but mostly developed her style of realistic depiction of animals through practical experience of many years.

In the mid 7Os, shortly after the Humane Society of Calvert County, Inc., was founded, Evonne, who had many pets herself became a member and heavily involved in improving the condition and treatment of animals in the area. She became Vice President and wrote a weekly Pet column which was published in the two local newspapers. Evonne is now a staunch supporter of Bunny Magic Rabbit Rescue, Inc.  and P.A.W.S., (Patuxent Animal Welfare Society) and designs artwork for them as well as for many other charitable organizations especially Animal Welfare Groups in both Maryland and Virginia.

Evonne has combined her love of animals with her love of painting to specialize in doing Pet Portraits. Evonne exhibits her work at art shows such as Artsfest and at the Gallery in Annmarie Gardens and sells on consignment at numerous outlets. She has done many commissioned works such as pet portraits, murals, pets on fabric, porcelain plates, jewelry and painted furniture. For the past year Evonne has designed the covers for the Dogshouse catalog. A company in Texas that manufactures items such as terra cotta coasters, nightlites and sun catchers has Evonne provide the art work which includes cats, dogs, bunnies as well as local southern Maryland motifs. These items are sold locally and by the Texas Company over the Internet.

Evonne resides in Lusby, Maryland, where her business, Evonne's Art Creations, Inc., is located. She and her husband Fred share their home with two indoor, house trained bunnies, two Shih-Tzu's, 3 cats and two large fish tanks. Many ofEvonne's paintings are portraits of her own pets.
